The Mercury
The first newspaper of Kingman, which issued its first paper June 14th, 1878.[1] It was to be issued every Friday, and the original subscription cost was $1.50 a year to be paid in advance.
The original advertising rates is stated as follows:
"Local and transient advertisements, first portion per square of 250 ems, $1; and 50 cents per square of 225 ems each subsequent portion.
Local business notices 10 cents per line for first insertion, and 5 cents for each subsequent insertion.
Professional and Business Cards not occupying more than one inch space, $10 per year. For the insertion of any advertisement other than above specified rates will be made known on application at this office."[2]
They relied on Messrs. Cosgrove & Sherman for building their newspaper house.[3]
