- July 4th, 1872 - Kingman (formerly Sherman) was announced by C. C. Hutchinson.[1]
- October 24th, 1872 - A mail route is established running through Castleton, Reno County, through Sherman, Kingman County, to Camp Supply, in the Indian Territory.[2]
- December 5th, 1872 - A bridge on the north fork of the Ninnescah is built which is directly on the road to Sherman from Hutchinson.[3]
- December 10th, 1872 - J. K. Fical is assigned as the postmaster at Sherman, Kingman County.[4]
